MySQL Cluster For Multiple Dedicated Servers

MySQL Cluster For Multiple Dedicated Servers

The main aim to create clusters MySQL is to have redundancy - your hosting server and programs will run efficiently even if one hosting server goes down

Note: For better performance you should have a 3rd hosting server as a control node, but this can be closed down after the group begins. Also observe that closing down the control hosting server is not suggested (see the additional notices at the end of this paper for more information). You cannot run a MySQL Cluster with just two Hosting And have real redundancy.

It is possible to set up the group on two Devoted Web servers you will not get the capability to "kill" one hosting server and for the group to proceed at regular. For this you need a third hosting server operating the control node.

Now below I had given the example for three servers:

mysql1.domain.com - 192.168.0.1
mysql2.domain.com - 192.168.0.2
mysql3.domain.com - 192.168.0.3

Servers 1 and 2 will be the two that end up "clustered". This would be ideal for two servers behind a fill balancer or using circular robin the boy wonder DNS and is an excellent replace duplication. Server 3 needs to have only minimal changes created for it and does NOT need a MySQL set up. It can be a low-end device and can be undertaking other projects.

STAGE 1: Install MySQL on the first two servers:

Complete the following actions on both mysql1 and mysql2:

cd /usr/local/
dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQL-4.1/mysql-max-4.1.9-pc-linux-gnu-i686.tar.gz/

from/signal42.com/mirrors/mysql/
Grouped mysql
Useradd -g mysql mysql
tar -zxvf mysql-max-4.1.9-pc-linux-gnu-i686.tar.gz
Rm mysql-max-4.1.9-PC-Linux-gnu-i686. tar. gz
Ln -s mysql-max-4.1.9-PC-Linux-gnu-i686 mysql
CD mysql
Scripts/mysql_install_db --user=mysql
Chown -R primary .
Chown -R mysql data
Chgrp -R mysql .
Cup support-files/mysql. server /etc/rc.d/Inuit. d/
Chmod +x /etc/rc.d/Inuit. d/mysql. server
Chkconfig --add mysql. server

Do not begin MySQL yet.

STAGE 2: Install and set up the control server

You need the following details files from the bin/ of the mysql directory: ndb_mgm and ndb_mgmd. Obtain the whole mysql-max table and draw them out from the bin/ listing.

Mkdir /usr/src/mysql-MGM
CD /usr/src/mysql-MGM
dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQL-4.1/mysql-max-4.1.9-pc-linux-gnu-i686.tar.gz/

from/www.signal42.com/mirrors/mysql/
tar -zxvf mysql-max-4.1.9-pc-linux-gnu-i686.tar.gz
Rm mysql-max-4.1.9-PC-Linux-gnu-i686. tar. gz
CD mysql-max-4.1.9-PC-Linux-gnu-i686
mv bin/ndb_mgm .
mv bin/ndb_mgmd .
chmod +x ndb_mg*
mv ndb_mg* /usr/bin/
CD
rm -rf /usr/src/mysql-mgm

Un-extraordinary measures: Stats show CPR often falls flat

Un-extraordinary measures: Stats show CPR often falls flat

 With

(CNN) -- In his 20 years of practicing emergency medicine, Dr. David Newman says, he remembers every patient who has walked out of his hospital alive after receiving CPR.
It's not because Newman has an extraordinary memory or because reviving a patient whose heart has stopped sticks in his mind more than other types of trauma. It's because the number of individuals who survive CPR is so small.
In fact, out of the hundreds of CPR patients who have come to St. Luke's Hospital in New York, Newman recalls no more than one individual a year making a full recovery.
Since it was introduced to American physicians in 1960, cardiopulmonary resuscitation has become a staple of emergency medicine. Between 2011 and 2012, more than 14 million people in 60 countries were trained in CPR administration, according to the American Heart Association (PDF).

Editor's note: In the Human Factor, we profile survivors who have overcome the odds. Confronting a life obstacle -- injury, illness or other hardship -- they tapped their inner strength and found resilience they didn't know they possessed. This week we introduce you to 27-year-old Tim Harris, who says he's living the life of his dreams.
(CNN) -- I was born in January of 1986. A few hours after I was born, our doctor told my parents that I had Down syndrome.
A lot of people told my parents that they were very, very sorry. I guess they didn't know then just how totally awesome I would turn out to be.
Growing up with three brothers was a lot of fun. They treated me like a brother -- not like someone special or different. They never let me use my disability to get out of doing the dishes when it was my turn. I did try sometimes, though.
I started in Special Olympics when I was 13 years old. My Special Olympic sports are basketball, poly hockey, volleyball, golf and track and field. I have dozens of gold medals -- way more than another Olympian, Michael Phelps Many of them are on display in my restaurant.

Nearly half of babies have flat skull spot

Nearly half of babies have flat skull spot

640_Really_Cute_Baby.jpg

Close to half of two-month-olds have a flat spot on the back of their heads, according to a new Canadian study that suggests changes in parents' habits may be a cause.
Although not thought to be medically dangerous, the flattened head shape can become permanent, researchers said - which can have psychological implications for kids as they grow up.
"This is super common," said Dr. Lisa Stellwagen, a neonatologist from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, who has studied what's known as plagiocephaly.
"With the Back To Sleep (campaign) and the overuse of car seats, and people not holding their babies like they used to, we've sort of rediscovered this problem with infants' head shapes," Stellwagen, who wasn't involved in the new study, told Reuters Health.
Pediatricians in the early 1990s began telling parents to put their babies to sleep on their backs, in an effort to prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), also known as crib death.
That campaign was "enormously successful," Stellwagen said - and the new findings do not mean parents should stop following that advice.
But there are steps they can take - such as holding their baby as often as possible and having "tummy time" when the baby is awake and supervised - to limit skull deformations, she added.
For their study, Aliyah Mawji from Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta, and her colleagues examined the heads of 440 healthy infants seen for their two-month well-child visit at one of four clinics.
They found that 205 babies, or about 47 percent, had some sort of head deformation visible to the naked eye. More than three-quarters of those were mild, the researchers wrote Monday in Pediatrics.
Prior studies suggested that anywhere from 3 percent to 61 percent of babies have a flat spot on their head, Mawji and her colleagues noted.
Some research has tied plagiocephaly to delayed crawling or rolling over, but babies tend to catch up by 18 months, Mawji said - so it's the potential for being bullied as a child that's more of a concern.
She said the deformation can be corrected with a helmet - but those typically cost $1,000 to $3,000, so they should only be a "last resort."
For young babies, treatment for a flat spot looks a lot like prevention, researchers said.
"You want to vary the side of the head that you're putting your infant to sleep on," Mawji told Reuters Health. "If their head automatically turns to the right … what you need to do the next night is turn their head to the left."
Like Stellwagen, Mawji recommended parents keep their baby out of a car seat when they're not driving. She also said they should alternate the hand they hold the baby in while feeding.
Parents might not notice a small head deformation because they get used to how their baby looks, Stellwagen said, so it's important for doctors to take a close look at the skull at early well-child visits.

Playing it safe: Signs of concussions in kids

Playing it safe: Signs of concussions in kids

Each year, nearly two million Americans are treated for traumatic brain injuries, with 75 percent of those being concussions.
We received this question from a concerned viewer:
Q: I think my son might have a concussion. What are the signs?
A: Concussions are usually caused by a blow to the head, but they can also occur when the head and upper body are violently shaken.
The symptoms may be subtle and are not always immediately noticeable, so it’s important to watch your son closely because concussions can alter brain function.
But here are some signs to look out for:
-- Headache or a feeling of pressure in the head
-- Irritability and concentration issues
-- Confusion or dizziness
-- Ringing in the ears
-- Sensitivity to light and sound
-- Nausea or vomiting
-- Slurred speech
-- Fatigue
You should always take your child to see a doctor after a head injury – even if emergency treatment is not needed. Remember, it’s better to be safe than sorry!

GSK examines Botox sales tactics used in China

GSK examines Botox sales tactics used in China

GlaxoSmithKline said on Monday it was investigating new allegations that its staff had used improper tactics to market Botox in China, but had so far found no evidence of bribery or corruption.
The move follows a claim that GSK staff allegedly handed doctors cash and other rewards for prescribing Botox treatment, which the British group sells in China under an agreement with patent-holder Allergan.
The latest allegations against GSK, which is already under investigation by Chinese police for unspecified "economic crimes", were first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The newspaper said internal documents and email showed GSK's China sales staff were also apparently instructed to use their personal email addresses to discuss marketing strategies related to Botox.
A GSK spokesman in London said the company believed the new allegations over Botox came from the same source who previously made claims over corruption in China - claims which GSK said earlier it had investigated and found to be without foundation.
"Nevertheless, we are investigating these new claims. However, our inquiries to date have found no evidence of bribery or corruption in relation to our sales and marketing of therapeutic Botox in China," the spokesman said.
"GSK has some of the toughest compliance procedures in the sector. We are proud of our high standards and operate in accordance with them."
The Wall Street Journal said emails and documents it had seen also discussed a marketing strategy for Botox that targeted 48 doctors and planned to reward them with either a percentage of the cash value of the prescription, or educational credits, based on the number of prescriptions the doctors made.
The strategy was called "Vasily", after the Russian World War II sniper Vasily Zaytsev.
"We have investigated the specific claim on the so-called Vasily program. Our investigation has found that while the proposal didn't contain anything untoward, the program was never implemented," the company spokesman said.
GSK is responsible for therapeutic sales of Botox in China - for example, to treat facial spasms - rather than its use as a cosmetic treatment to remove wrinkles.
The allegations come as police in the south-central Chinese city of Changsha investigate high-level Chinese staff at GSK on suspicion of economic crimes. It is not clear if the Changsha investigation is related to any of the allegations.
GSK, Merck and other foreign and domestic drugmakers are also being investigated by China's top economic planning agency on cost and pricing issues, as foreign firms come under pressure from Beijing over possible price-fixing.
China is an increasingly important market for international pharmaceutical companies, which are relying on growth in emerging markets to offset slower sales in Western markets where many former blockbuster drugs have lost patent protection.
IMS Health, which tracks pharmaceutical industry trends, expects China to overtake Japan as the world's second-biggest drugs market behind the United States by 2016.

A man who has smoked two packets of cigarettes a day for 26 years is so desperate to stop smoking that he's resorted to wearing a cage on his head.
Ibrahim Yucel has tried several times to kick the habit but without success and is wearing the helmet-like cage in a last-ditch attempt to quit smoking for good. He told Hurriyet Daily News he came up with the unusual idea after watching motorbike riders wearing helmets.

He realized he had to wear something on his head so he could not physically bring a cigarette to his lips, and now has the locked cage on his head every day. The 42-year-old, from Kütahya, Turkey, even gives the keys to the cage to his wife and daughter so he's not tempted to remove it.
Mr Yucel said he had wanted to kick the habit several times, especially as his father had died from lung cancer several years ago

Judge rules defense can show Trayvon Martin died with marijuana in his system

Judge rules defense can show Trayvon Martin died with marijuana in his system

Defense lawyers will be permitted to show that Trayvon Martin had marijuana in his system when he and George Zimmerman had their fateful encounter in a gated community in Florida last year, the judge in Zimmerman's murder trial ruled Monday.
Judge Debra Nelson denied a motion by prosecutors to keep toxicology results showing THC in Martin's system from the jury, paving the way for Zimmerman's lawyers to argue the drug may have influenced the teen's behavior. Defense attorney Don West noted that in Zimmerman’s statement to the non-emergency 911 dispatcher that it appeared the person he was observing in the Sanford, Fla., community was “on drugs.”
Late Monday, Zimmerman defense spokesman Shawn Vincent said the defense could rest by the end of the day Tuesday or early Wednesday morning. The prosecution would then have rebuttal witnesses, with closing statements by Thursday or Friday. Vincent stressed this scenario depended on everything going as expected.
Nelson's ruling on the toxicology results came after the jury was dismissed following a day of conflicting testimony about whose voice could be heard screaming on a subsequent 911 tape. A parade of Zimmerman's friends said they recognized the neighborhood watch volunteer's voice, but Martin's father, who police said initially told them he did not recognize the voice, said he came to realize it was his son after hearing the tape some 20 times.
The testimony, in week three of Zimmerman's murder trial, came after the mothers of both Zimmerman and Martin testified Friday it was their son doing the screaming in the Feb. 26, 2012, 911 call made to Sanford, Fla., police. The issue is critical because Zimmerman, a 29-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer, says he shot the 17-year-old in self-defense as he was being beaten.

Pilot was attempting his first Boeing 777 landing at San Francisco airport, airline says, while NTSB investigates death

Pilot was attempting his first Boeing 777 landing at San Francisco airport, airline says, while NTSB investigates death

Asiana Airlines said Monday that the pilot in control of a Boeing 777 that crashed at San Francisco International Airport Saturday had little experience flying it and was landing one for the first time at that airport, while the city's fire chief said there is a "possibility" that one of two passengers killed was run over by a rescue vehicle rushing to aid victims.
San Francisco Fire Department Chief Joanne Hayes-White said there "might be a possibility," that a fire rescue apparatus came in contact with one of the passengers, but the alleged incident is still under thorough investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
NTSB Chairman Deborah Hersman said a preliminary review of airport surveillance video "wasn't conclusive."
The FBI and San Francisco Police Department were notified of the alleged incident and an investigation began after the plane crash scene was locked down and the aircraft was secure, San Francisco Fire Department Airport Deputy Chief Dale Carnes said during a press conference Monday.
"One of the deceased did have injuries consistent with those of having been run over by a vehicle," San Francisco Fire Department Spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said Sunday

The crash killed two people and injured at least 182. The plane, traveling from South Korea, slammed into the runway on Saturday morning, breaking off its tail and catching fire before slumping to a stop that allowed some passengers to flee down emergency slides into thick smoke and a trail of debris. Firefighters doused the flames that burned through the fuselage with foam and water, and police officers on the ground threw utility knives up to crew members so they could cut the seat belts of those who remained trapped as rescue crews removed the injured.
The two victims killed in the crash were Ye Mengyuan and Wang Linjia, both 16-year-old Chinese students.

US companies increasingly turning to temporary workers to fill positions

US companies increasingly turning to temporary workers to fill positions

temporary_jobs.jpg

Hiring is exploding in the one corner of the U.S. economy where few want to be hired: Temporary work.
From Wal-Mart to General Motors to PepsiCo, companies are increasingly turning to temps and to a much larger universe of freelancers, contract workers and consultants. Combined, these workers number nearly 17 million people who have only tenuous ties to the companies that pay them — about 12 percent of everyone with a job.
Hiring is always healthy for an economy. Yet the rise in temp and contract work shows that many employers aren't willing to hire for the long run.
The number of temps has jumped more than 50 percent since the recession ended four years ago to nearly 2.7 million — the most on government records dating to 1990. In no other sector has hiring come close.
Driving the trend are lingering uncertainty about the economy and employers' desire for more flexibility in matching their payrolls to their revenue. Some employers have also sought to sidestep the new health care law's rule that they provide medical coverage for permanent workers. Last week, though, the Obama administration delayed that provision of the law for a year.

The use of temps has extended into sectors that seldom used them in the past — professional services, for example, which include lawyers, doctors and information technology specialists.
Temps typically receive low pay, few benefits and scant job security. That makes them less likely to spend freely, so temp jobs don't tend to boost the economy the way permanent jobs do. More temps and contract workers also help explain why pay has barely outpaced inflation since the recession ended.
Beyond economic uncertainty, Ethan Harris, global economist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, thinks more lasting changes are taking root.

Cracking your knuckles does not actually hurt your bones or cause arthritis. The sound you hear is just gas bubbles bursting.

Cracking your knuckles does not actually hurt your bones or cause arthritis. The sound you hear is just gas bubbles bursting.

Cracking your knuckles (or any of your joints) can have therapeutic benefits. When you crack one of your joints you are pulling the bones that are connected at the joint apart from each other. This process stimulates your tendons, relaxes your muscles, and loosens your joints. Chiropractors do this for spinal joints when your back is sore and stiff, but you can do this on your own for your knuckles, toes, knees, neck, etc.

Unfortunately, there can be too much of a good thing. Cracking your knuckles will never lead to arthritis (despite what your mom keeps telling you), but scientists have discovered that it can cause tissue damage in the affected joints. Knuckle-cracking pulls your finger bones apart which stretches your ligaments. Too much stretching of your ligaments will cause damage to your fingers akin to the arm injuries sustained by a baseball pitcher who throws too many pitches. In addition to making your hand really sore, this ligament damage can also result in reduced grip strength.

How does this work? Your joints, the places in your body where you can bend, are where your bones intersect and are held together by ligaments. These joints are surrounded by a liquid called synovial fluid. When you stretch your ligaments by pulling the bones apart to crack your knuckles a gas in the synovial fluid escapes and turns into a bubble. This process is called cavitation. Cavitation ends when the bubble eventually bursts, producing that popping sound we know and love. After that, your joints won't be able to crack for another 25-30 minutes while the gas gets reabsorbed into the synovial fluid.

Thai cops punished by Hello Kitty

Thai cops punished by Hello Kitty

A police officer wears a pink armband featuring 'Hello Kitty" to show reporters
Police chiefs in the Thai capital, Bangkok, have come up with a new way of punishing officers who break the rules - an eye-catching Hello Kitty armband.
The armband is large, bright pink and has a Hello Kitty motif with two hearts embroidered on it.
From today, officers who are late, park in the wrong place or commit other minor transgressions will have to wear it for several days.
The armband is designed to shame the wearer, police officials said.
"This is to help build discipline. We should not let small offences go unnoticed," Police Colonel Pongpat Chayapan told Reuters news agency.
"Guilty officers will be made to wear the armbands in the office for a few days, with instructions not to disclose their offences. Let people guess what they have done," he said.
Further offences would be dealt with using a more traditional disciplinary panel, he said.
The cartoon character Hello Kitty was first introduced by Japanese company Sanrio in 1974.

The cute round-faced cat has become an Asia-wide marketing phenomenon, with Hello Kitty products such as stationery, hair accessories and kitchen appliances available across the
